Why most people fail to make money online

One of the most important reasons that allows me to make a 5 digit income every month from my website is that I didn’t follow the rest of the crowd blindly.

Most of those who try to make money online fail because they follow the herd without really questioning the effectiveness of the methods they are using. One of the most common misconceptions in the Blogging world and the online world is the ability of Blog comments to bring you traffic and increase your page rank.

Bringing traffic to your website using blog comments

Nowadays the nonfollow attribute, which is an attribute that can be added to all external links in a Blog using a simple module, prevents search engines from following the links used in blog comments.

This means that the link in your blog comment wont be counted by search engines and won’t help you increase your page rank at all.

The other misconception about blog comments is their ability to bring traffic, do you know anyone in person who managed to get massive traffic using blog comments? Please don’t count the few hits your friend once got when he commented on a popular blog post because we are talking about real traffic.

Writing a single article that is well optimized for search engines can bring you few hits everyday for prolonged periods of time, comparing that to the traffic coming form blog comments makes blog comments absolutely worthless.

Yes Google uses the page as one of the parameters to determine a stie's ranking but in the end mastering few of these parameters (the most important ones) will surely let your page come up first.

Should you quit commenting on other blogs?

No, because as I pointed out in my article Making your Blog known by connecting with bloggers, connecting with other bloggers is one of the most important tasks you should do in order to drive traffic to your blog.

Don’t just post a comment on the other bloger’s blog, but send him a mail, add him on facebook and try contacting him directly whenever possible. This will help you become a part of the blogging sphere quickly and will help you bring more traffic to your blog.

So in short, blog comments are worthless, don’t waste much time on them.
