What is the difference between Amazon.com and any other online retailer that is not famous?

The only difference is that Amazon.com has built a strong brand for itself in such a way that it’s now well recognized by its logo in the online world.

The internet has got millions of websites and most of them copy content from each other, this resulted in a bored online visitor who categorizes websites into two categories only "A branded site" and a "Yet another website".

The only way to differentiate your website from the millions of other similar websites is to create a recognizable strong brand. (see How to make my blog popular).

A strong brand will prevent your website from dying

I know that your main concern is to bring traffic to your website and I know that you depend on many methods to attract visitors but the question you should ask yourself is, how many people arrive to your website by typing its address directly in the address bar?

When john shoe’s website was banned by Google people kept searching for the keywords words "john shoe" until Google realized that its better not to ban the site!! So Shoe’s site was allowed back into Google just because it had a well recognized brand.

Had john depended on SEO or social media marketing alone to bring traffic his website might have been forgotten by now, but because his brand was recognized his website didn’t die.

Occasional visitors Vs loyal visitors

If your want to have a popular website then your main focus should be building brand loyalty by turning occasional visitors into loyal visitors. (see How to get recurring visitors to your site).

In order to build brand loyalty you must first have establish a brand that differentiates your website from others. Having a unique logo, a unique slogan and unique content is the key to creating a brand for your online site. (see Choosing a slogan for your website or blog and Niche marketing for bloggers).

You can determine whether your efforts in building an online brand are successful or not by checking how many people visit your website directly and how many people reach your website by search for it on Google.

Once you have created a strong brand your site will keep growing and people will buy whatever you sell them.
