Finding the right niche for your blog

Finding the right niche online for your blog

One of the main reasons my first website gets is that I targeted the right riche and picked the correct market to sell my products.

If your Blog is perceived as a one that is similar to all the millions of Blogs out there then this means that you might not be targeting the right niche or that you didn’t manage to position it well. In this article I will describe how you can target the right niche and make your website or blog appear different than all other competitors.

How to position your website or Blog?

When I say the word Volvo you remember safety, when I say MacDonald's you remember fast food but when someone says yourblog.com what comes to the listener's mind??

Is it “Yet another blog”
Or is it something clear like “expert tips” or “articles that are backed by research”

MacDonald’s has positioned itself as a fast food restaurant that serves food very fast. Volvo has positioned its cars as ones that provide the safest ride to the driver and the people in it.

When you position your product or brand correctly it changes from being a “Yet another brand” to “something that is worth remembering”

When I started my first website http://www.2knowmyself.com I found that there are millions of self help websites and billions of self help pages so instead of positioning my website as a self help website I have chosen a niche that is demanded but had very few competitors which is self understanding.

I wrote the same content i intended to write but instead of calling it a self help website i called it a self understanding website.

The site’s slogan & the niche

Based on the niche that I have chosen I changed my website’s slogan from “Develop yourself change your life” to “The ultimate source of self understanding”. I have also changed the footer of every page to reaffirm the fact that 2knowmyself is the best resource for self understanding.

Now whenever someone visits the website he realizes that its not a “Yet another self help website” but it’s a place that provides a deeper understanding for oneself.

Now going back to your blog? What does your blog offer? How do people perceive your blog? What is different about your Blog? When people hear your blog’s name what comes to their minds?

In summary, your Blog will never stand out in the crowd except if it was different and no one will think that its different unless its well positioned.
