Get more traffic to your website by building a strong brand

Lots of people believe that simple actions such as article submission and posting comments on forums can bring them the traffic they dream of but usually most of them end up feeling disappointed.

The traffic bringing methods we all read about these days are just supplementary methods that can help your site get few more hits but if the core of your site has a big problem such as a weak brand then all of the traffic bringing methods you are using will yield no results.

What is branding?

In very simple words, branding is having a logo of your own and a marketing message associated with it. For example when you see McDonald's logo you quickly remember the fast food it offers and how quick the service is.

so does having a logo alone help in creating a brand? of course not, people will associate your logo with whatever experience they will get at your site. If they visited your blog, found very high quality information then the next time they will see your logo they will remember the good experience they had at the site.

So branding is a two step process where the first is determining your own strengths and associating them with a logo or an avatar and the second is letting people recognize these strengths and connect them with the logo.

How can branding bring you more traffic?

Very large number of people visit well known websites directly by typing their URL in the address bar. For example whenever you visit Facebook you just type its url instead of Googling the term.

The reason you visit facebook directly is that you had a good experience there and this good experince has been associated with the brand in your mind.

brands bring recurring visitors, loyal visitors and potential customers. Once you create a successful brand for your blog you will be able to sell products, recommend affiliate links and make good money online.

How to build your own brand online?

I have already explained how an online brand can be established in my previous article building an online brand so i will just give brief steps that describe the process:

• Create an avatar or a logo for your site (or for yourself if you want to become the brand)
• Create a twitter account, facebook account, myspace account....etc then use the logo of your brand as the display pic. Most people think that the main use of social media is to get traffic while the truth is that its main use is strengthening the brand (see The effect of branding on traffic)
• Be consistent (use the same logo, slogan, message everywhere)
• Have a strong competitive advantage that differentiates your blog from other blogs
