How to Optimize my website for google

Optimizing your website for Google is not a hard task but it requires you to learn how to filter the noise, the incorrect advices some Bloggers give and the wild guesses of those who never managed to rank well in google search.

What I am sure of is that there are certain parameters that are well known and that are given a very high weight by Google in such a way that if you correctly used them your page will come up first.

1) The first thing you need to put in mind is to target long tail keywords instead of very popular keywords because for the later, old and more authoritative websites will come before you in search results even if you are better optimized than them.

2) People always put emphasis on the title tag alone forgetting that the page URL is as important as the Title tag and even more important. Make sure both the URL and the title tag have the keywords you are targeting. The domain name is very important too , but since you already choose it you might not be able to do something about it now.

3) Google likes emphasis so make sure you have one bold keyword and one underlined keyword in each article if you can.

4) Make sure you user header tags and include the main keywords you are targeting inside them.

5) Link to that new page from different places on your site and use the main keywords the page is targeting in the anchor text you are using for the link (see Internal linking optimization).

6) the main page of your site must contain the same keywords you are targeting throughout your site, this improves the ranking of your individual pages because it shows that the page doesn’t have these keywords by accident but it has them because the whole site is targeting that topic.
