How to improve my google ranking

More than 75% of the 450,000 hits my first website gets each month comes from search engines. If that’s enough traffic for you then read this article to know the methods I use to improve my Google ranking.

In my previous article how to make my website come up first in Google I explained how modifying few elements on your page can allow it to come up on the top of search engine results, but sometimes some pages can’t make it to the top even if they are perfectly optimized because Google sees that other pages have Got higher weight than them. The secret behind ranking and backlinks

Matt Cutts, Google’s famous SEO engineer said one day that the "link:http://yoursite.com" query used on Google search only displays a fraction of the back links a website really has.

When he was asked why does Google only display a fraction of backlinks a page has he answered saying that this is some kind of protection so that other people don’t try to duplicate the same links a certain website has and so complete with it on search results

This is a direct confession that states that if a certain page has more Backlinks than competitors then it will show up first on search engine results.

You might be saying, ok but I already know this but the truth is that most people who already know this focus on getting backlinks to their main page instead of getting backlinks to each deep page on their site.

If your website has 100 pages and all the backlinks you got are pointing to your main page then your main page might rank better than other sites but your deep pages might not even show up on Google’s search because of not getting any backlinks!!

How to get backlinks to deep pages

The Good news is that a link from your main page to one of your deep pages is still counted as a back link. In my previous article how a link from the main page affects a blog post's ranking I explained that Google likes articles that are linked to from the main page.

The main reason Google likes such pages is that they count the back links those pages got from the main page!!

So lets summarize everything into few steps so that you can use them to improve your Goolge search engine ranking:

• Focus on all pages:Get backlinks to all of your pages not just the main page
• Link from main page:Link to lots of pages from your main page especially if it has a good rank
• Use webmaster tools:Use Google webmasters tools to know the number of links each page has and work on increasing this number for each page
