How to rank first on Google

With the presence of all these advices about coming up first and ranking well on Google a website owner might believe that ranking first on Google is only a matter of following the correct advices.

While this is perfectly true still there is one fact about Google search engine results that most of the people who talk about SEO are not aware of, which is the manual manipulation of search engine results!!

Evidence has been growing that Google does some manual manipluation to the search results especially for pages that show up on the top five results of Google’s queries. In this article I will provide more evidence for this manual manipulation then tell you how you can rank first on Google.

Does Google edit search results manually? Yes they do

Since I know a lot about SEO and my websites are frequently crawled its pretty normal that I find one of my articles appearing on the top 10 results in Google’s search 24 hours after the article is published

One day I didn’t have much new ideas to write in one of my articles and so I wrote an article that has much less rich content compared to the articles I always write. The next morning I woke up to find my article appearing as the second result in Google search when I searched for the article title as the keyword.

I felt good because even though the article didn’t have much rich content it managed to make it to Google’s first page.

The second day I search for the same keyword but this time I didn’t find my article at all!!! Had I found it a bit deeper in the search results I would have said that other new content replaced it but since the article wasn’t found even on the third page of results therefore someone has manually removed the article!!!

How to rank first in Google

In my previous article Using bullets for SEO I explained how Google loves bullet points and rich content. At the time of writing the article I thought that their algorithm was made to work like the human mind and that was the explanation I gave for the phenomenon that articles with rich bullet points rank higher, but as the possibility of manual manipulation started to grow I started to believe that Google likes rich content because a human editor reviews them!!!

In order for your articles to come up first on Google you must do those two things:

• Optimize your code Unless your pages are properly optimized they won’t make it to the first page and so the Google human editor will never see them (see my book how to make your website come up first on Google's search results to learn how to do it)
• Write rich content articles: Even if you made it to the main page your article might be removed by the human editor if it doesn't have rich content. Make sure your article has rich and useful content

In summary, write well optimized articles that are content rich and you won’t find any problem in appearing on the top of Google results.
