In my previous articles Using long tail keywords in SEO and Page keyword density myth i explained choosing the right keywords to target can allow your site to rank well on search engines.
I know i mention this fact a lot but just in case you don't know, 90% of my pages show up on the top of Google's results few days after they are published. i am not the kind of person who keeps secrets to himself and that's why i disclose all the information i have through my articles and books.
In this article i will give you an important SEO tip that will help you know that right keywords to target with your content.
Google now has the biggest market share in search queries and its rapidly swallowing other search engines, that's why i usually focus on Google when talking about search engine optimization.
I am sure you have heard many times before that Google favors content rich pages, but what does a content rich page mean?
Based on my experiences of optimizing more than 1400 pages i can tell you that a keyword rich page is a page that has lots of paragraphs!! Google defines a content rich page as a page that has lots of keywords that are related to the main topic you are targeting.
For example if i am writing an article about making money from the internet then using keywords such as "SEO" , "Optimization", "Monetizing"....etc will make my article more keyword rich. Of course the longer the article the more keyword rich it will become whether you are trying to manipulate the keywords or not.
This means that Google favors pages that have more content because they have more keywords.
of course keywords targeting won't let your pages come up first on Google unless you learn how to optimize your articles for search engines. In my book How to make your website come up first in search results i explained how you can simply let a page show up on the top results of Google few days after creation, if you are interested in this topic take a look at the book.
Now Suppose you decided to make a website that teaches people how to make money from the internet, should you target competitive keywords like "Making money online" or long tail keywords like "how to make money from the internet for free" ?
The answer is it depends upon the amount of information you have, if your article is going to be long, full of keywords and content rich then go for the competitive keywords while if you are going to write quick tips then target long tail keywords.
