Using Google analytics to increase your profits

Each month i am selling more products and making more money from my website. My first website is currently getting 400,000 hits a month and i am making a respectable sales volume for my E-books. I didn't follow the traditional advices everyone else is repeating but i used marketing, psychology and consumer behavior's knowledge to increase my sales and to make more money from Adsense.

In this article i will tell you how you can use Google analytics to increase your websites Adsense earnings and sales.

Not all pages are created equal

Lets say your relatively new website gets 200 hits/day. Not all the pages on your website get the same share of those hits. For example you can be having a page that gets 100 hits alone while the rest of the website gets the remaining 100 hits.

In order to determine the pages that get these hits go to Google analytics, choose "content" and then click "view full report". A table like the one below will show up:

As you can see in the picture the first page in the site gets 739 hits alone which means that :

• Placing large ads in this page will improve the site's overall Adsense revenue
• Putting a link to your newsletter there will result in more subscribers
• Advertising your products there will increase your sales
• Adding your affiliate links there will result in more sales

Increasing your profits using top pages

Go through the first 10 popular pages and make sure they are perfectly optimized for Adsense and that you are making the best use of their advertising space. By doing so you will increase your site's overall revenue by just changing few pages.

What pages people view next?

Click on the first popular page and Google will take you to another page full of options. Choose navigation summary and Google will show you the next pages people visit after leaving your popular page. Again optimize these next pages for Adsense and you will increase your adsense income in no time.

For example some people don't like to use large ads not to distract visitors but if you only managed to place them on these popular pages you will increase your earnings without making your website look unorganized.

Selling more products using the navigation path

Suppose that you found that most visitors visit page 1 then move to page 5 then to page 8. In such a case adding the same advertisement for your product within the content of these three articles will program the mind of the visitor to buy your product. Why do think large companies like Coca cola keep repeating the ads on the television and everywhere? because the more the ads are repeated the more you become familiar with the product and the more you are programmed to buy it (see my article How to gain visitor's trust for more information).

Adding ads everywhere in your website might not result in anything because people might not see them, however, using the popular pages and the navigation path visitors take you can make sure that your ads will be seen and that people will buy your products.
