How to make your website famous

You might be wondering what does spartans have to do with making a famous website? Actually there is a very strong connection between the way Spartans think and the popularity of a website. In the first part of this article The Spartans guide to having a popular website i explained how tolerance for rejection, persistence and believing in your website can be the main reasons your website becomes popular one day.

In part II of the article i will explain how you can make your website famous by optimizing it for search engines the way spartans would have done it if they lived these days.

Why Search engine optimization?

Even though there are hundreds of marketing methods that can be used to promote a website search engines are still the major traffic source for most online websites. According to a research Almost 83% of web users depend on search engines to locate results and to find what they want.

In my previous article how to make your website come up first in search engines i explained how optimizing few factors on your page can help it appear on the top of Google's results and one of the factors i mentioned was having a link pointing to that page on the main page of your site.

For example if i want to optimize this article for search engines then i would make sure that there is a link on my main page pointing to this article and having an anchor text that is similar to the article's title, "how to make your website famous" in this case.

How the Spartans would have optimized pages?

Remember at the beginning of the movie Spartans used to get rid of deformed babies or weak ones because they won't grow as strong adults (how cruel!!) . Luckily we aren't going to get rid of babies but instead we will remove the weak articles from our main page to free more link space to articles that can come up first on Google.

For example, suppose that after you wrote a certain article and optimized it for search engines you didn't find it appearing on the top results (this can happen when comeptition for the keyword is too high) in this case you should remove the link you have for this article from your main page so that you link to another article that can make it to Google's front page.

After all its strongly recommended that you have as few links as possible on your main page and since linking to a page from the main page is one of the very powerful SEO elements you want to make sure that you are only linking to pages that can appear on the top of search engine results.

Here is a summary of the process in case you were confused:

• Optimize a page for search engines
• Link to this page from your main page
• Wait sometime until you make sure Google crawled your site again
• Check whether the page appeared on the top results or not
• If the page didn't appear then its a weak page and so you must remove the link you have for it on your main page
• Keep repeating the process

I believe if spartans lived these days they would have had famous websites because they would have optimized them this way :)
